I already have a slabbed certified 93S. Sorry no jealousy or envy just honesty. And if I was an honest dealer I wouldn't offer you more than $5 for a fake. But I'm being generous and offering $15.
Nice, way to discourage the OP. I'd still love to see some of these "fakes" with all of the die characteristics. We seem to hear all about them but all the fakes I've seen are gross. Does nobody have a pic? If there are so many out there how come there aren't any to compare to? But edited seems to be an expert because he already has a slabbed 93-s. I have one too but that dosen't make me an expert.
Agreed! I have 3 93-S with 2 slabbed from PCGS and 1 from ANACS and i'll be the first to admit i bought them because i had the money, not because im an expert. I really hope it's real for his sake, but i have my doubts and i hope he proves us wrong! It would be just another error to look for.
edited is just a skeptic. I understand his doubts but he needs to keep an open mind and not just assume that he has seen it all and therefore any new info coming out in the Numi world is irrelevant. I also have an 1893 s Morgan in a PCGS rattler. I have been comparing these two coins. Ill admit that when I first saw it I was 100% sure that it was fake. Now I have more reasons to think that it is real. Notice that the only person on this thread who KNOWS what this coin is is him. I am not saying that it is real but I am leaning heavily in thaat directions. If anyone in GA wants to hold this in there hand and give there two cents, just PM me and we'll make it happen "No, it couldn't be because I never heard of it" is not the best argument that I've heard. THats just Pompous Denial. Give me a legitimate reason to believe that it is fake. I shot that crow yesterday for Turd-Delicious and put it on ice. Ill have an answer in six weeks...
the world is full of odds, sometimes even the most unimaginable things can happen. For example, tomorrow we could all be dead on this rock called earth due to the collapse of a nearby star that just happens to send its main burst of gamma radiation straight for us. All of our coins would still be here, and would all be worth the same. The odds tell me its fake, the universe tells me it might not be. Also, crossing fingers.
I'm with Conder here. IF THE COIN IS GENUINE my guess is it will bring more than a "common" railroad rim Morgan but less than a '93-S in the same condition (with a normal edge).
I am very skeptical about this coin believe me. However I am not one to rule out anything like some folks do. thanks for the input.
I think this will be out of reach of any error collector for sure, and out of reach of anyone looking to add a 93 s to their collection. Maybe I can sell it and start putting together a roll of 1933 double eagles/ J/K of course
Out of reach of most of the error collectors yes. There are some that could afford it, but why would they want it? They might want a nice RR rim, but why would they want one on a 93-S unless they are putting together a set of Morgans all with RR rims. So this means that basically all the error collectors are not interested. There are a fair number of collectors who could afford an 1893-S in that grade, but if they were buying one in that grade they would usually rather have a perfect one rather than a defective one. They definitely won't pay extra for a defective one because they aren't interested in the error. So who would want this coin? Someone who wants a 93-S but can't afford one in that grade. So they would buy it but they would pay less than a perfect one for that grade. My guess is that this coin is worth maybe 20% less than it would be without the partial collar.
Well we can all apreciqate what you are saying Condor and as a General Rule among most collectibles youd be correct. However, and we have to assume this is real for the argument, wouldn't this have to be compared to recent sales of 1893 s major known vams coin? This will be for the vam collectors who never dreamed of having an 1893s much less one that is this prominent.
Wouldn't this be kinda the same deal??? http://www.coinlink.com/News/us-coi...-rare-1878-8tf-partial-collar-at-smithsonian/
