Since @lordmarcovan was the one to get us fully onboard into the world of numismatics, I thought this would make a fun post. My son is 9 and has been collecting since he was 5 or 6. It all started with a few coins from a grandparent. What has followed has been quite the adventure. He pulled his 10 favorite pieces (while home sick from school) and I took the photos. We've always loved Lord M’s ever changing eclectic box, so now Henry has one of his own. I hope you all enjoy. Feel free to weigh in with your favorites from the list. In no particular order:
Congrats to the kiddo, you & his grandparents. It's always heartening to find someone enjoying their coin collecting & especially the youngsters. All the Best to both Henry & Mark, J.T.
What a fun way to spend a sick day. Always nice to have some quality time with the little ones. Nice photos and he has a very nice "box" of coins.
Give Henry a high five for me. He's waaay beyond where I was at age 9. Back then, I was still plugging Lincolns into a Whitman folder.
That "Man and a Brother" Conder token is awesome. Must've been from that great lot of Conders that came your way a while back, eh? The Bust half and other US Type is lovely, and I've always been a fan of that 1927 "Parliament House" Aussie florin type, for some reason.
What a great collection for Henry! I have had a hidden agenda getting my daughter into coins. Every time we watch a historical movie or series, I pull out a coin from that era (if I have one), to show her. Last one was a Caesar denarius after we had watched «Rome» together. That sparked a little interest, but it was soon gone. Glad to see that someone succeds in passing on this great hobby. My favorite among very nice coins is the anti slavery token.
Those are really nice coins, your son has very good taste Really great photos too, (way better then mine) John
