I have to admit my training is as a physical organic chemist and any chemistry I know of metals, including corrosion and conservation comes about from my reading of relevant articles and my collecting and experimenting over the years. Giving advice to people in cleaning/conserving coins should probably take a clue from the Hippocratic Oath and "First do no harm". I often quote @BadThad since he has infinitely more experience in metal affecting fluids than I have. Here is a FAQ for his product.

I have seen so many "discussions" on verdigris and bronze disease. It's my understanding that bronze disease is a term used by ancient coin collectors only and describes the condition that left untreated leads to the destruction of an ancient coin.

If it were the same condition that has given the Statue of Liberty her lovely patina, surely she would have crumbled to dust by now.

Hello Friends, thank you for all your feedback and input. So I just checked a humidity level in my room and it is fairly normal 41%.

Does anyone have any idea, what else can be a culprit for a green buildup? I thought at first it is a humidity, but now I am confused?...

For the bronze disease treatment (and also corroded silver) you can refer to the following articles.

41% still above the average. It should be below 35% to be on the safe side.
