Be sure to look deeper than simply not seeing one. While not absolute, this may be of some help to you....

As for the Trade, I will not get into much with only the provided photos to work with, but if he sends worthwhile images, I'll do what I can. However, as it stands right now I will say that the example appears to show a full crossbar on the 4, does not have a broken R and/or missing periods, and is not of the very small mintmark variety. The mintmark placement looks okay (pay attention to this if you do research) and I respectfully wouldn't put too much weight into the thinness at this point as it could simply be the photo. While this does not narrow things down a great deal, if you want to do some homework, it does give a starting point.

I know I probably sound like a broken record here, but for starters, if you're going to buy coins, you really need to invest the time into learning for yourself. This isn't meant to be rude, mean, or in any sort of negative way, but is said only out of concern. For years I've watched people search out and focus mostly on that "good deal", and while there certainly are good deals to be had, more often than not the ones that didn't quite know what they were doing lost out in the end, or only had their behinds partly saved when metal prices started rising and peaked a few years ago. I don't know you and perhaps I've gotten the wrong idea, but I do hope you take this to heart. Coming here for advice was a good move, but when it comes to fakes, particularly with Trades, please take what you're told with a grain of salt. In the not-so-distant past there was another thread on Trades, and one counterfeit was posted in said thread, but it was not the one so many were pointing the finger at and this should tell you something. The point is that while there are many good folks here, it's not our money at risk, so remember the old saying that "free advice is worth what you've paid for it".

Here is more pics of the peace. You can really see how more light will really show up more marks on the coin. Before I thought the coin was in better shape then I do now. Does this help anyone? The price listed is not the asking price. He is wanting $800 for both. If we can decide if real or not an grade is high enough I think I could get him to $500.00. Still waiting on the other pics.
