Was just about to write a comment regarding the previous comment of it being an "MS 66/67", and I saw that someone had already informed the writer of how outragously overgraded an MS67 is for that exact 1928 Peace Dollar. I'm glad to hear you can designate a grade of "MS" Mr. jcakcoin, but for this coin to even come close to a grade of "MS67", It would basically have to have been struck yesterday and gone straight into a coin protector of some sort.

So, are they trying to say it was improperly cleaned before conservation? I would have hoped that they would catch that and contact the submitter before proceeding.

I don't think the coin was cleaned prior to me sending it to NCS. Guess the only way to get those spots off was to do some sort of cleaning method. I really am not sure.

Sorry you wasted your $ Flyer. Your 28 is a nice coin, most pre 1970 coins have been cleaned along the way.

Thanks. Coins should have more eye appeal now at least. Probably about a wash on the money side of things. I will take a picture of it when it arrives and will post.

I'd definately go with NCS , it's a beauty and a dipping could ruin the luster . Acetone couldn't hurt . But would do nothing if it's in the metal . Is that some irredesent toning I'm seeing .

If i twas gradable before you sent it in I'd be a little p----d that they would clean it so it wasn't gradeable . They should of asked you prior to cleaning the coin . Hopefully when you get it in hand it will still have all the luster . It's still a desireable coin .

Man, that sucks! It's a nice coin to have though in any grade.

They wouldn't. Looking at his original pics it sure looks like it was harshly cleaned before he ever sent it.

Normally NCS won't send it on to NGC if they don't think it will grade. So if NGC saw it NCS thought it would grade, and NGC thinks NCS improperly cleaned it. Probably didn't realize it had been worked on by NCS and they assumed someone else had worked on it.

That's the way it used to work, but not anymore. NCS no longer slabs any coins. Ever since NGC agreed to use detail slabs all coins worked on by NCS are now sent by NCS to NGC for slabbing - whether they would get a regular slab or a details slab is now up to NGC.

Well it certainly does look better.

I agree. But the lines from the harsh cleaning are still in exactly the same places they were, they are now just easier to see.

I agree also. Much easier to see now. NCS did what they could and did it quite well. I can't complain.

My eyes are getting bad . I still can't see the lines in the original pics , but can see them in the new pics . The toning must of been hiding them a little . Wish I had your eyes Doug . Guess it's time to see the eye doc . LOL
