I picked this up with a mass of other coins yesterday. My original thought was French, but I have not found a match in the 1601 to 1700 Krause yet - does anyone know what it is?

I agree it's French, looks like either an ecu or one of the fractionals. Just guessing from memory here but I'm thinking Louis XIIII.

    How big is it ?

I would guess earlier. Looks like a (double ?) Patard of Charles the Bold of Burgundy, likely minted somewhere in Flanders.

Thanks for thoughts so far. Diameter is about 26mm.

A Search on the word "Patard" on Ebay has turned up a number of good matches, and Charles the Bold seems to be the man, so this one is solved now - thanks!
By the size and weight a Double Patard from Flanders in the period 1467 to 1477.
