    Hi folks

This coin is supposed to be a 1966 proof (I hope someone can confirm the date) but the surfaces look funny to me. Almost looks plated. The weight and diameter is correct, also non magnetic.

The only thing that occurs to me when looking at it is that the raised areas look "frosted" and the flat areas have a mirror like finish that I would expect on a proof. I don't think a plated coin would look the same. Just my .02.

The date is 1966. The Standard Catalog (38th , 2011) only lists proof strikes for this year.

The coin is now ruined :rage: :(

I gave it a acetone bath

It wasn’t plated it was coated (which I believe is done at the mint)
This is the second time this has happened to me with two different coins

I don’t suppose anyone knows how to fix this.
