I had this coin laying around. Can I get some help with the date/year please. Sorry.....Japanese! I need sleep!
1887, Year 20. Character for 'Two' and then 'Ten' means 'Two Tens', or Twenty. Coin is actually not so bad. A picture of the reverse would be nice.
I think it's Meiji Year 26. It says, from the twelve o'clock to four o'clock positions in this photo (read it right to left, like Arabic): "Meiji, two, ten, six, year".
If you look it up on Numista.com, they show the original text alongside the translations. Used it to decipher some Japanese coins.
