    Hi all,
    I'm curious to hear your opinion on the grade of these two Morgan's. I'll probably be sending these along with a few others in for grading but I'm curious to know your thoughts. Both are in their original GSA cases. I've seen better examples of both but still nice coins to have!

    1. 62
    2. 62+ - Obverse is 63 but the eagle's belly may hold it back a bit.

    Both MS63. I like the die cracks on the 1883

    62 for the first
    62 plus or 63 for the second

    I think the first one tops out at 63, although having to shoot them through the container makes evaluation a bit more difficult. It appears to be VAM-10. Have a look for a die scratch on Anna's upper lip and a tiny dash under the second 8. If you don't see them, let me know.

    The 1883 appears to be VAM-5D, the latest die state of VAM-5 with a break at the back of the cap. Not a real common subvariety, and interesting for that. Wouldn't be surprised if it made 64. It appears to be a nice frosty coin - albeit a weak strike - and I'm seeing more interruptions in the finish than actual dimensional marks than the other respondents have.

    Thanks for the info. I'll check out the VAM info and try to take some better pics.

    Dave summed up my thought. Wouldn't be surprised at 63 & 64

    Both 63s. Standard GSA somewhat baggy CC dollars, with nice frost in spots on both of them. I would call them equals, with the 83 being higher in the same grade.

    That's pretty much what I was thinking. Thanks for the help.

    Exactly where I'm at. I think you may be able to get a '+' out of the '83.

    I think they,re 63s, but hate the GSA holder scratches...those would bother me a lot...

    80 = 62
    83 = 63
    like @chascat said.

    I'm breaking my own rule, I prefer to only grade a coin I can hold in my hand. Having said that, the checks on both are moderately baggy and NGC tends to grade similar GSA Morgan Dollars MS 63.

    I say a 63 on the 80 and a 64 on the 83 I like the rim on that one.Now having said that and knowing my luck they come back 62 and 63 :facepalm:
