Got this in a mixed lot, no idea how to go begin the attribution of the Byzantine types. Thanks!

it looks like an Alexius I AE Tetarteron

When anyone posts coins, they should include the diameter, unless the denomination and its size is well known. The size comparison with the finger in the picture helps, but not everyone would recognize this as a small coin.

It most likely weighs 2-ish grams or less, and is a half-tetarteron of John II.
Examples here.

 

I thought it was John II Komnenos reference number Sear 1954:


size the same as a littlefinger nail.

 

I am 99,9% sure that he has attributed it wrong as it is neither Sear 1978 as the page suggests.
