    I think this "Coins in Art" topic is deserving of its own thread.

    I love the chef in that kitchen scene. He's got a kindly but mischievous twinkle in his eye. He's probably been dead 400 years or so, but looks as though he'd happily come back in ghostly form just to play a friendly poltergeist prank on you. (And you can bet it would involve a bowl of liquid in the kitchen.)

    Could you all please be comfortably seated before I reveal the latest shock horror news re. the Money Changer & His Wife. "The painting is a social commentary of Netherlandish preference for wealth instead of religion." !!!
