A little help with identification of this coin please. It's a 1970 D quarter and I think I see some doubling to "of America" and "quarter dollar" on the reverse. Any value to it? Sorry the pic is difficult to get but the faint letters seem to paper to the left under the stronger letters. Thanks in advance!
It looks like you posted this twice, about 8 hours apart. If you don't see your original post in the "Recent Topics", then you need to go to the original forum, "Error Coins", to find it. By the way, a doubled die is not considered an error. Chris
I'm not seeing any true doubling as much as possible machine doubling. For the 70-D DDR's there is no mistaking the serif separation doubling on the coins.
Be sure to check out "QUARTER DOLLAR" where the doubling is slighter yet still is characterized but serif separation or "splits" at the top of the "U" and the upper and lower right corners in the "T", "E", and "R". Here's one from a different "die number" (DDR-006) where the separation is more exaggerated.
