Hello everyone! Just taking a closer look at some coins here and noticed something interesting about this 1879 S (Reverse of 1879) Morgan Dollar. The coin is P/L or semi P/L with tons of die polish lines. The thing I noticed was some extra metal on the left middle of the 8 of the date. I've been to the VAMWorld page HERE for 1879 S (Rev 79) VAMs...and can't seem to find the exact match. Can anyone help me out with this one? I'll include closeups of the date and MM...
Ok, now I have to put some coffee on, so far you have the doubled 9 vam #16, so thats where I'll start, I'll be back shortly with the rest of the anwser ..
I think thats it, start on vam 16 Double 9, http://www.vamworld.com/1879-S VAM-16 then click the vams that go with that vam, vam 54 is the only one to has the engraved 2 leaves like your does ...
This is one beautiful coin, my hats off to you sir .... Thats why I love seeing Morgans, and doing vams ..
Can I just say THANK YOU @Rick Stachowski ! It is a beauty - and it will be on eBay on Thursday as part of a consignment. So it's someone else's beautiful coin, and will soon belong to yet another excited collector...lol
