I don't really have a specific want list. I kind of just buy collections or lots and go through them. I pick out what I want to keep or what interests me and sell the rest to fund my next purchase. The problem comes with the selling part bc I usually like to keep too much lol.
I found a couple of decent EBay buys lately. Looking forward to plowing through this bag of Memorial coppers I bought at $.0015 over face and that was shipped price! Private seller, Dads coins, no selling history, selling a bunch of crappy albums and this FULL bag of copper. We’ll see what pops up!
Wow that's a lot of cents to go through and should keep you busy for awhile! Good luck with the search and post some results!
I’ve had that bag for 5 weeks now and that’s the first time I’ve seen the coins myself so yeah I’m jacked to go through these. Thanks I’ll post any cool coins for sure. First pull is the nice wheat you see in the picture, it’s got a planchette defect, poorly mixed alloy. Those aren’t scratches. This bag supposed to be all Memos look what slipped through! You can see this coin by the bottom open lip of he bag in the image I posted of the bag of coins. Reed
That makes the whole bag worth it. Looks like he's got a light lamination going on through the obverse, too.
Thanks, it’s hard to go wrong when it’s so close to face value! It’s hard to say on the alloy-verses-lamination. In hand to me looks like Alloy but.......could go either way! Reed
I knew I had a decent illustration, somewhere. Here, look at this one. Note the same long, parallel streaks as on your coin. These are laminations caused by impurities. Note how some are coming apart, while others are manifest as simply streaks. Look at the revers where the impurities are manifest as "woodgraining." Woodgraining is like infantile laminations that never got out of the cradle, so to speak. They're caused by the same, exact thing, impurities. That's why I diagnose your coin as an impurities flaw. i.e., a lamination, however light. How does that hold you?
What a interesting planchette that one was stuck on Yes that is exactly what I thought as well. Some people have called these feeder finger damage but we know different now don’t we! I feel that you are on the money @eddiespin that’s exactly how it is.
Do you see how the obverse would look just like the reverse were it not for the obverse coming apart? There's the range of what impurities can do.
I don’t surf I skate. Have longer than I’ve collected coins and still do! Just one of 8 boards in my quiver. What can I say I like to go fast and hurt myself, kind of a hobby! Lol. And yes those are skater shoes the only kind I’ll wear, Supras. Justin Beabers shoe of choice. My hero!
I knew I could find this. Here is one that the edge was able to be caught and peeled out to leave this nice canyon with a little fold by the neck. I actually found this in pocket change I received from merchants! You can tell it was not a scrape by the t in trust and the chin is still raised and not scraped flat. You kinda have to see it in hand to see what I see. Sorry for the crap image had to use my iPad because my phone was dead. Reed.
