I bought this 3 troy oz. bar but never looked up the stamp on the left side.

Is there a hotsheet that has different stamps that will help me understand where it was made.

Sorry if this is an open question but I never researched this before. I need some help if you would.

    Thanks for the help.

    Pictures coming...

Nice hallmark but I don't know what company it belongs to. You may want to go to google and type in silver hallmarks and see what comes up. Hopefully someone is familiar with it.

Yup. Some hallmarks take a while to find. I've been poking around and not turning up anything.

The seller didn't have any info about this piece for you to go on? What state it's from? Country? year?

This is also what makes it harder to liquidate these sort of PMs when you need to as buyers cannot easily trust the quality/purity of the bar. It lacks serial numbers and a familiar assayer like JM, Engelhard, etc.

The seller just knows it's an old pour?? The seller is from CT (the state not forum). There is a local dealer that can verify weight and hopefully region. I'll hit him up this weekend.

sounds good, let us know what you find out. if it matters to you, ask him if he is going to be scratching or drilling a sample out of the bar to test it, in case you would rather not have it damaged. you can also readily buy on eBay the testing chemicals and a stone to do simple purity tests on PMs.

Post 5 says silver, but I too questioned it. Haven't heard from the OP in a while on this thing either...

Ok, so far I can say based on Troy oz it holds it weight. I finally bought a 1000g scale and can weigh more then 50g which was/is originally my reloading scale.

Still not able to get a trademark answer. Someday though...

Don't judge the book by it's cover. ...Next I'll be cutting this puppy in half for samples.

From what I could find, this is an "Omega" style bar from CMI Gold & Silver Inc. headquartered in Phoenix, AZ.

Great to have an ID on this finally! CMI Gold & Silver Inc. What makes you think its from them?

Do you think it's authentic or have any idea why they wouldn't mark what type of metal it is? It looks pretty amateurish. I couldn't find any examples of 3 oz. bars on their site. They have a photo gallery but nothing like this appears there. 'Omega' turns up nothing in their site search results. The hallmark on the bar does not appear on the site either.

To be honest, I thought it looked like an omega sign and typed in "omega silver bar" in google search images and found one for sale. I didn't see where they ever made 3 0z bars either and I think they only had their design minted for a short period of time because of a lack of supply in early 70's. Then they went to englehard and JM for their supply needs when they got going good.
