Help settle a bet. What are your favorite state quarters?

Your friend has terrible taste—those are three of the least artistic designs. IMO, the best designs have minimal text, an uncluttered surface, and a design that flows with the shape of the coin. I think Nevada ^ more or less meets those criteria, as do Washington, Oregon, Maine, Alaska, Vermont, and Connecticut. The quarters with a map of the state or multiple design features are almost universally bad.
