I see that last one got the orange hoodie award. Seller said they paid $60 for it. Yikes. "Coins" with those same markers are on the Chinese site for $1.30, free shipping if you buy 20.

Couldn't get the better looking ones listing removed and actually bought it; I will measure it and have my local coin shop scan it and go from there:D...

Yikes, did you really pay that much? I looked it up. I suppose you can return it once you've measured it and know it's fake.

I've toyed with the idea of buying up fakes on eBay that are getting bid up, then relying on Buyer Protection to (a) get my money back and (b) flag problem sellers. But I'm afraid that if I did that frequently, without any "good" purchases, they'd nuke my account.

Are other classic commems commonly counterfeited?

I certainly saw a wide range of them on eBay when I was spending a lot of time there.

Yes; one that comes to mind is the 1925 Stone Mountain...

Thanks. I didn't know as I just have dabbled in them recently and this thread seems to only be focused on the Pilgrim.

Pilgrim is in hand; measures close to "specs"; weight 12.60 and diameter 30.65. Will take it to my local coin shop on Thursday to scan the metal.

Took some close-up images of the off features as well as the edge:

Odd that ebay killed the listing but you still received it. Do you still have to pay? Good to have one for the specs I suppose (especially if you get a refund later). I'm curious if it's thicker to make the weight closer.

What should it measure in thickness?

I was about to say "standard half dollar thickness", but the relief on these might make a difference. I'll see if I can find my circulated specimen and put the calipers on it.

I was thinking just put it between any other .90 half dollars (1964 Kennedy, Franklin) since they're all 30.6mm and 12.5g, see if there's an obvious difference.
