Can someone please help me identify the date? Found this in a roll of nickels. This is a 50 yen Japanese coin? I am very novice with world coin.
    Thanks!

Yes, it is a modern Japanese 50 yen coin.
Not much collector's value, but still worth about $0.45 face.

    Heisei 8 = 1996
平成 = Akihito, the Emperor who ruled from 1989-2019
Most currently circulating Japanese coins will be from his era.
To find the date, just add the number to 1988 (start year - 1).
