The silver coin will appear white and the nickel will be a dull gray. See which one your coin matches more closely. (A silver plated copper coin though would still pass this test as silver though.) From the size and weight I still think it is plated copper, nickel, or coppernickel. Nickel will be easy to tell with a magnet, but plated copper or coppernickel would require testing with special equipment to bombard it with either x-rays or neutrons to determine from it's re-emissions what elements it contains and in what amounts.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
