Hi, please, help me appraise my 5 centesimi, Vittorio Emanuele II. Not very good condition, mint year not readable, it is 1861, 1862 or 1867. But - the coin is probably wrong minted - back side is minted UPSIDE DOWN! I don´t know, if it is standard, or something rare. Thank you all for your advices! See attached photos.
Depends on what you call "upside down". These days most coins are minted in parallel alignment (↑↑), so you turn the coin like you turn the page of a book to view the other side. But older coins in various countries were aligned differently (↑↓), and pre-euro Italy was one of them. The US still uses that orientation. Now how would you turn your coin? Christian
This coin should not be a Medalic Alignment. @chrisild is correct. (Chris You posted your message when I was typing mine ) See the following: (I want to share this image from the Numista website)
