    Hello everyone!
So I've been getting into ancients (I know the dark side is too strong lol) and have bought a few at ANA's Worlds Fair of Money.
I however don't have much knowledge on ancients, someday when Im ready to get serious into ancients I will ask how to get started on here (within budget of a YN).

I know two things about this coin for sure:
    -Honorius.
    -Constantinople Mint (CONSA).

Anybody have any other idea regarding metal, denomination, listing number?
I've searched many databases and have not been able to track down the exact site.

    Thanks,

    SC

Is it right to assume that's Victory next to the emporer on the reverse?

    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

I think the reverse on this coin depicts two emperors, Honorius and Arcadius. The reverse would be GLORIA ROMANORVM.

Esty type 51 is right. Constantinople mint under "H" for Honorius is rated as C for common. (Note Esty, not Etsy like etsy.com. ;) I'm sure Warren gets that all the time!) The variations you mention are just the usual variation you get with ancient coins, no two dies are the same.

It's a neat type with both emperors on the reverse. I don't have one but wish I did! :)

Haaha thanks! I was wondering about that with Etsy, he even has a side link about if anyone wants to buy them they are in the wrong place and has a link to Etsy lmao.
I wasn't sure about the dies with ancients, thanks!
I like the duel emperors too.

    Nice ones!
@Alegandron yours looks just like mine but different mint.
I think my goal with Romans will be an emperor type set (what am I getting myself into:woot:) of all emperors and empresses on coins maybe.
Though I am more into Judaeic ones.

Who knows where I'll end up with ancients...

    Oh and one more thing!
What exactly does AE mean? Does it refer to size of the coin?

It refers to the fact that it is a base metal rather than AR (silver) or AV (gold), base metal as described is copper or orichalcum (brass) which are mostly Sestertius or Dupondius. The number after AE refers to the size.

This page from 1998 really needs updating but I have many other projects so don't know when or if it will happen. Near the bottom is a paragraph on the AE1-AE4 matter. The photos on that page all had a US cent under onec coin for scale but this one hardly shows under the AE3.

Oh thanks! I saw something on eBay that was called AE28, I think that may be an error lmao.
AEs are my favorite Romans then I guess.
These tables are confusing to read...
