A friend of mine found these in some old stuff he inherited from his father. Please help identifying them. I thought one might be a 19th century coin issued by a local ruler and the other an old temple token but not too sure. Thanks.
The first one could be a 19th century princely state coin. However, the inscription looks a bit out of proportion to the rest of the coin and i can not make a sensible reading out of it. The second is a Kahavanu from Sri Lanka, about 1000AD. Looks genuine. The text next to the reclining figure in your top photo reads "Sri LamKa ViBhu".
Thanks. Do you think the first could possibly be one of the Sikh princely states? The script is Arabic but some of the other
The most readable part on the upper coin indicates that it was minted in Royal Year 25. That's not enough. Don't think this is Sikh (usually has leaf symbol on it). But there is an enormous amount of princely state coinage. Without size and weight it becomes even more difficult. The lower one, if genuine, has a coin value in very good condition of about 200 Dollar. The fact that it is mounted may change this value.
