Here is another item from my French relatives' hoard. 0.7 grams, 12 mm
I think I can make out HENRI D G on the reverse (with the coat of arms), which made me first think French, but the obverse appears to show a (German?) eagle over a number 10. No date I can recognize. The 2-part coat of arms would appear to be key. Anybody have any ideas? UnknownBillonsmall.jpg

I think I've found the coat of arms. Appears to be Bishopric of Verdun. But still don't know the exact coin, Std Catalog only goes back to 1601 (though this coin might be (16)10) and is not necessarily complete for oddities like this. Any French specialists out there? Unfortunately my Duplessy only covers royal coins.

I think it might be a billion denier of Henry II of Lorraine 1608-1624
    obv: HENRI DG DVX LOTH

rev: (eagle) MONETA NOVA NANCEII ?
