OK, Thanks for all you help. I think I am beginning to see the picture. Pun Intended. I tried to take a couple of photos using a different angle, background, lighting, and camera setting. What do you see that indicates that the coin has been cleaned? I am starting to be convinced that what I have is an AU, cleaned coin. For $22 I am still very happy. I bought it to add a type coin to my collection for my enjoyment. This was not purchased as an investment. Maybe these photos will help. I have learned a lot already tonight.
The coin has been cleaned. I would recommend examining the coin either under a halogen light, or a high watt incandescent (75+), and rotating the coin at an angle under the light. You should see tiny little lines which indicate it has been cleaned (you can see them in the photos as well). You didn't get burnt too bad, and if you enjoy the coin, really that is all that matters, plus you now have a refernce piece to compare other coins too. If you keep at it you will be able to spot cleaned coins after seeing enough of them.
With that last photo, I am more inclined to say the coin has MS details because of the feathers present on the eagle's breast. However, as has already been said...the coin has been cleaned.
Yes. That last photo does show the detail on the eagle's breast that I could not see in the first set of photos. It also shows the lines from the cleaning much more clearly though.
