Peter, I will use the link when I can.

The problem with selling on Amazon is the commission. They charge 99c + 15% FV. Now that does not sound too bad, unless you are selling a low cost item. Say a book or coin that you value at $2-3. Suddenly the 99c off the top takes a huge bite out of the item. I mean eBay is high, but I can still recycle my once read books and make a few cents to put into coins and supplies. To come out, you need to ask a lot more for your stuff at Amazon.

I know these guys need to make money for the service they provide, but somehow, I think there are a whole bunch of traders who have low cost items that could be sold back and forth. Every year there are more and more new coin collectors who usually start from circulation. They want to buy inexpensive items to build sets and sell their duplicates. Not all can or have access to coin clubs. Maybe the niche market is too small, but it's worth some research. IMHO

I actually read in one ad at Amazon about the person overcharging for bullion but blaming Amazon's fees on their high prices. The fees may result in higher prices but how can you sell something you overcharge for? On another note, I did buy a metal detector straight from Amazon and had gift certicates I earned at paid survey and paid offer sites so what I actually paid was really reasonable.

I realize this post is old, but I just saw it. At Amazon, casually selling low cost items isn't cost effective. However, if you sell a lot, you can get a paid account for $30/month. With that, the $.99/sale fee is waived, and you only pay the FV fee. So if you sell over 30 items per month, it's worth it.

COIN TALK COIN SHOP!!!!! What a super idea....i would just feel alot more confident buying from most of the people who communicate on this board but once it really got going i'm afraid all the ebay stink-sharks would try to come on over....maybe you would have to earn the right to sell your coins by being a member for a certain amount of time and making a certain amount of posts or something like that.....probably not going to happen but its nice to dream
