Here's an oddball I found in a roll recently. I'm still learning the Kennedy Half dollar varieties but I do know that there weren't any 72D struck on silver. We measured it with micrometers and the width is normal except for being a hair thicker on one side (more below). I did the tissue test to check for composition because this coin has consistently weighed out at exactly 11.5 grams after approx 100 weigh ins over a few days but it looks gray. The reeding is in good condition without any wear or damage and is normal color. There is an odd area from "In God" all the way to midpoint of "I" and "B" sandwiched between the rim and reeding where there appears to be a raised lip. The rim looks identical on the reverse from the "IT" in UNITED to OF. There is some minor doubling on most of the obverse, best seen in the G of "God". Could that raised lip be something wrong with the seam or be enough to increase the weight? Its a circulated coin that I got it in a roll from my bank. Anybody have any suggestions on what would make a normal-sized coin weigh so far off while being the correct metal composition (conveniently 11.5 lol)?
