Rather few Romans would show well by 2018 standards. Nero was not the worst ruler Rome experienced and he did have some interesting coins. I don't have a nice denarius but am quite pleased with several asses which are the bargain denomination of that period. Sure I would rather my coins were larger denominations (the Janus type even comes in gold) but I'm happy to have the type in any size or metal. The patina obscures the fact it was yellow brass and Nero issued dupondii both with and without the radiate crown.
