I just like coins with problems (as some may know from some of the oddities I have posted before). I got this over the weekend, a Helena Follis from Siscia. It amazes me a coin like this could circulate and not get broken. Thats just one aspect I like about coins like this. Also, check out the cool double crescent in the mintmark! Feel free to post your 'flawed' coins.
This one did break once already. Ilipense After 150 BC AE AS Obvs: Grain ear, dotted border. Revs: ILIPENSE, Fish swimming right. Crescent above 23x30mm, 11.93g
Man, @Orfew... that is such a fabulous coin. Here's one of my favorites and it has prominent flan cracks. They don't bother me a bit. I'll go as far as to say I even like them on this particular coin! CORINTHIA, Corinth 345-307 BCE AR stater, 8.65 gm Obv Pegasus flying left, qoppa below Rev: helmeted head of Athena left wearing necklace; mask of Silenus behind Ref: Ravel 1046. Calciati 408 from Heritage Auctions, June 2013 This scarce variety was chosen to represent Corinth staters, #23 in Harlan J. Berk's book, "100 Greatest Ancient Coins".
All of my coins are flawed. I'm working on a You Tube video on the subject at the moment (wonder if I'll ever finish it?). I have a page on coins made interesting by their flaws. The difference between corrosion and patina is a matter of outlook. I know a guy who was sold countermarked coins as seconds about 20 years ago by a Bulgarian wholesaler. Opinions vary. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/dougsmith/wabisabi.html

i don't have much in the "crack" category. i don't know if this is cracked or they just used a raggedy flan.
