Head of Athena left, slices of cucumber on eyes, dolphin before and behind

    Shooting some specimen from a newly aquired lot, I - most probably - came across the first documented beauty tip on ancient Greek coinage ever.

    Athena clearly uses slices of cucumber as beauty treatment of her skin. As you will notice, it worked! The eye area still looks fresh and shiny, compared to other facial regions.
