Hiya folks, I was just trying to research this small gold coin I had purchased a few years ago, and discovered it has a mintage of only 87 coins. Im assuming it must have some value beyond the $45 I have into it, but cannot find any information online regarding such. Does anyone have any knowledge of past coins that sold? Thank you for any help you guys can give! -Mike
This is a rather tricky one. Because this is not an official product of the US mint, Hawaii mint is actually classified as a private mint. Therefore all the 'coins' should technically be considered as token. At minimum, this should be worth at least melt value. But I guess it really depends who is interested in such to really determine what it is worth. At such a low mintage, I'm certain some are willing to pay a fair bit. This PDF might be of interest to you. https://www.royalhawaiianmint.com/newsletters/11-1987_October_Year_Of_The_Hawaiian_Issue.pdf At time of release, it was sold at 160 dollars. Again, it really depends on who is willing to buy it.
Wow thanks for the help everyone! You exceeded my expectations gxseries! I paid melt at the time, but I still like this tiny gold "coin."
