This coin was bought as a replacement to another solidus I sold at a Heritage auction pictured below. This coin type is very common & Heritage has sold scores of them, however, they are very popular & nice looking examples bring a good price at auction. The coin pictured below I bought from a Rochester, NY dealer for $150.00 over 30 years ago. I got the coin slabbed & enjoyed it for a long time but wanted a better example, that's why I bought the first coin posted. I sold this coin at a Heritage auction two years ago for $960.00 & was happy with the result . I thought NGC was generous giving a star to this coin. If you enlarge the image you can see a lot of die rust on the obverse.
