Have you ever seen an actual bank bag of silver dollars?

I'm just curious what they looked like, and what to look out for. Are there any tell tale signs of what is inside, certain bag bands/crimps, anything?

I wasn't collecting then but I remember seeing that photo in a Numismatic Scrapbook (one of several dozen) that I got off of Ebay about 12 years ago.

Don't buy bags of anything! Look and examine what you're buying first.

What do these have to do with a bag of silver dollars?

A "bag" is 1000 American silver Dollars.

Ive never seen a bag full of dollars but i have seen a new orleans mint bag from the 1860's for silver dollars. I lost out on it at auction.

Today, the IKE Dollar coins are delivered in plastic bags but that wasn't how it was done when they were produced.

The bag below used to be full.

I've had others but no photo's and each bag was labeled as to which mint the coins inside originated from.

This is true of the Morgan Dollars as well. I'm unsure about the Peace Dollars but it is important to remember that before the Corporate Coin Rolling Operations, dollar coins were shipped in 1,000 coin bags and labeled according to their contents for inventory purposes.

Before 1964, EVERY Bank was required to have 90% Silver Dollars in inventory for when folks came in with the Silver Certificates which promised a Silver Dollar upon demand to the bearer of the note.

Have I seen a bag of 90% Silver Dollars? Not in person that I recall but I cannot imagine those bags being any different than original bags of Eisenhower Dollars.

My grandfather had two bags of (I believe mixed) New Orleans dollars that came from my great grandfather when he worked at the mint in the late 1890s. These have unfortunately been distributed out to the family over the years, but I remember admiring them back in the day. Wonder what those bags would be worth now.

Seen them, yeah many times, never owned one though. But then I never wanted to either.

Today, just the empty bag that once held Morgans can sell for hundreds of dollars.

Many of today's politicians are as smart as a bag full of doorknobs.

Can't say I've seen a bag of silver, but a couple months ago I was in Kansas City and stopped by the museum at the Federal Reserve. Stood in front of a wall display of $40 million in $100 dollar bills
