Has the RCM gone crazy???

Hi Everyone,

Earlier this week I got an email from the RCM about this coin:

I was really? Come on RCM!! What are you doing. They seem to be minting a ton of coins that are of questionable numismatic value in my opinion of course. I still buy some Canadian coins. Mostly bullion but I can't believe all the stuff that is coming out from the RCM. Low mintages & high prices but not worth it. Again in my opinion

I don't have an issue with thinking outside the box with your designs but I think the RCM has just gone way too far!! I think they're going to alienate collectors if they keep this up. Hopefully they'll calm down and reduce the number of coin designs they put out.

What do you all think?

Following in the footsteps of the U.S.Mint

 

The U.S. Mint is not nearly as bad as the RCM has gotten. Both Mints could definitely pullback on their products but, to me, the RCM is way worse!!

 

Nope, I don't ♥ it either! Guess that we'll just have to buy this one @ CAD $69,000!

 

But . . . but . . . MS70!

 

I was expecting them to say that the rings detach or blink or play the Wedding March or something. That's the level I've come to expect from the RCM.

I guess no one read all the 5-star comments. Why wouldn't the RCM make more when this coin is all the rave? I must of missed the comment section at the U.S. Mint.

The RCM is the ultimate example of producing "granny bait" and has reached the point where they have run out of Canadian subjects so they make things up. The jade-insert "glow-in-the-dark" camp fire one was the final straw. They are no longer a "mint"; they are just in the tourist trinket trade.

 

Besides, the list makes the difference between the Canadian Mint and the US Mint very obvious. The RCM is not so much interested in collectors who will buy each and every variety of a coin, but in those who may find this or that design or theme attractive and buy the piece. Their concept obviously works too ... whether we like it or not.
