My profile pic and first ancient coin I ever bought. I had to post! Tiberius, AD 14-37 Roman AR Denarius; 3.87 g, 18.5 mm Lugdunum, AD 16-37 Obv: TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, laureate head, right Rev: PONTIF MAXIM, Livia, as pax, seated right, holding long olive branch and inverted spear; legs of chair ornate, triple line below Refs: RIC 28; BMCRE 45; RCV 1763 var.
Interestingly, all three varieties of tribute penny are posted in this thread. @gregarious has the one with Livia holding a scepter and with a single line below the chair (RIC 30). @Aethelred has the one with Livia holding a scepter and the chair has plain legs and two lines below it (RIC 26). I have the one with Livia holding an inverted spear instead of a scepter and the chair has ornate legs and three lines below it (RIC 28).
What an awesome type! (Awesomely hilarious, that is.) Never seen it before, now way high on my wishlist. Acsearch is acting up, but it seems this was only issued by Andrea Dandolo?
It was only issued by Andrea Dandolo and it is not rare, or anything, but popular and difficult to find. I have been looking to upgrade this one for some time and can't find another one. The interesting thing about this particular one is that it was issued at the time the Black Plague was at an all time high, hence shaking everyone's faith to the core. Makes you wonder why he issued this particular coin...

Your kid's puppy is looking pretty cute, Sallent (it looks cuddly) Hey, I just returned home from my first free Easter meal of the season => yup, sweet ol' cousin Paula made Portuguese perogies and a bunch of other yummy dishes (it was her son's 16th b-day as well, so we opened-up a bunch of wine and drank to the occasions) ... yah, we usually find some random occasion worthy of opening-up a few bottles of wine!! Good times!! Happy Easter
