I appreciate Cointalk and respect everyone here. Without you all and this site, I would lost and probably depressed. Thanks everyone!!
Amazing. Are there any of the original members still on here since day 1? Besides the moderators of course.
To the best of recollection Peter was the only member on day 1. I was aware that Peter had created the forum on day 1 because he had posted an announcement about it on the WINS website. But I didn't join right away, I just lurked for a while to see what was going to happen, and joined as member #112 two months later. None of the mods, past or present joined until years later. There a few members who are still active on the forum today who joined before I did in those first 2 months, but literally only a few. Anyone can find out when any member joined the forum by visiting that member's Profile page. Anyone who wishes to find out a bit more about the history of CT can do so by reading this thread - https://www.cointalk.com/threads/a-brief-history-of-time-cointalk-edition.249091/
Cool. Great info. But that thread is from 2014. It would be super cool to see an updated current info/stats!
I had been collecting coins for 70 years before I found CT. The good people on CT increased my knowledge of coins substantially. My collection focus changed from date and mint to understanding the varieties. Thanks CT.
Well any time you feel like it you can spend the month or more of time and work it took him to find all that info and create that thread. And that was just the beginning. If you read the thread you'll find that additional info was posted over the 5 years following post #1.
Congratulations on 20 years and thank you Peter. Before CT all I had was Numismatic News & Coin World to learn by (aside from Red Books) and have had much fun learning and helping others when I can.
Collecting wouldn’t be collecting without CT. Thanks to Peter and his gang for making this site possible!
I've only been around for 6 years, but the things I've learned and connections made have been invaluable. Thanks CT.
Darn, I'm always late to the party. @Collecting Nut did you save me a piece of that cake. Congrats @Peter T Davis on this impressive milestone. 20 years is a major accomplishment.
Thanks for the great site Peter. You built a really special place. Thanks to you as well Doug for keeping us crazy people in line.
