Marcus Aurelius; the last of the "five good emperors", and biological father to his son Commodus. Significant because Commodus accession as emperor was the first time a son had succeeded his father since Titus succeeded Vespasian in 79 AD. The other five good emperors all had adoptive sons who succeeded them to the throne. Wikipedia cut and paste history: Marcus Aurelius was the first emperor since Vespasian to have a biological son of his own and, though he himself was the fifth in the line of the so-called Five Good Emperors, each of whom had adopted his successor, it seems to have been his firm intention that Commodus should be his heir. On 27 November 176, Marcus Aurelius granted Commodus the rank of Imperator and, in the middle of 177, the title Augustus, giving his son the same status as his own and formally sharing power.
Hollywood version of Marcus Aurelius and Commodus, which has absolutely nothing at all to do with reality or history:

Thanks Stevex6! I had a great father's day. Let the kids play in the pool all day...they tire themselves out that way. Despite frequent application of sun-screen, a couple are sun-burned ...'gonna hear about that one:rollling:.
I wish I had thought of posting Philips for this thread. Of the fathers and sons, there are only a couple that shared legends and types to the point that it could be hard to tell one from another. Titus and Vespasian had the same name but the father never used the praenomen Titus on his coins. Philips can be confusing. Who wants to separate the coins below into father's and son's?
Zeus is the "Father of Gods and men". The list of offspring is quite long or I would copy it from Wikipedia.
