Half cent real or fake?

    I'm not your guy for half-cent questions, but that scale's not going to be very useful for authenticating any coin. You need one that weighs down to the hundredth of a gram, although sometimes a tenth of a gram is adequate.

    Looks like a typical Chinese counterfeit based on the 1804 Spiked chin C-6. The color and appearance is typical, weak details and lack of definition of the reverse die cracks especially from the "2" to the "U" typical as well. Per TheFinn the edge should be a clue, as it will be sharp/ squared on yours; the image on the scale (which should read approx 5.44) looks squared.

    Do you see the "finger print" on the right obverse field like the comparison image? It looks too faint as well.

    Here is the reverse of another documented fake; the odd damage on top of the "A" of HALF is seen on the fakes as well.
