I have a soft spot for Haitian coins, especially the earlier ones. I don't see Haitian paper money very often, but at ~$3 US, the price was right. If my atrocious French serves me, it says it is payable on demand at $1 US per 5 gourdes. I hadn't realized that the Haitian gourde was pegged to the US dollar as late as 1989. Even though the peg is decades abandoned, apparently prices in Haiti are still sometimes given in hypothetical "Haitian Dollars" at 5 gourdes to the dollar.
you must be outta your gourde as my dad used to say. hey if you collect haitian art i have an original castera bazile im gonna let go .
