My first Ancient is a Hadrian Denarius. Some rim damage, but it was pretty inexpensive.

Nice coin for a first ancient. It has a great portrait too.

Nice work, DrHenley! The cracks around the rim may not be damage. The coins were not struck in a collar, so you frequently find little cracks where the metal flow caused the flan to separate during striking. Weight was the important consideration in denarii, not necessarily neat edges.

I really like the coins of Hadrian and Trajan, they really show the apex of Roman portraiture IMO. It is also the point when the empire was at its greatest territorial extent.

Nice one Henley. My first ancient looked more like a rock. You did good. :)

I just realized something, I have around three dozen ancient coins, and I didn't buy a single one!

    I know, kind of sad.
