Anyone here good at it or even care? I should go to the VAM World Forum but there are some surly unpleasant people that turn me off there. :D Shame because John @ VSS is super nice guy. I think I will end up paying VSS anyway just to confirm variety, but it's frustrating send a coin off for grading and then for variety somewhere else, but this almost seems like a discovery die pair. Yeah, I know ANACS specializes in it, but if its a red herring discovery they won't attribute it. John has attributed many discovery coins.

I didn't take a ton of pictures, its all about date doubling here. Not a rare coin, it just interests me. 1886P, UNC condition of some grade. The bar under the base of the 1 one screams VAM 20, but if there is a hook in the lower loop of the 6, it's early die stage. It's not prominent. There is also a barb underneath the crossbar at the top of the 1, but none of the pickup points fits VAM 12 either. No idea.

I see the Barb that you say. That looks like contact as it goes "scratch" to the other side of the one. The bar does look to be there.
    Nice close ups.

Thanks, but it's a coin scope. Not my camera photos. If only I could find a coin scope that could take a full photo of a Morgan, I'd be tickled. This cheap Hayve camera is fun but when I don't use it for a couple of months, I have to relearn how to link it to my laptop....lol
I've seen your setup, no way I could build that. I suppose I could buy one for hundreds of dollars, but I'm too cheap for that. Maybe if I start liquidating, I'll consider it. None of us live forever.

I can't take close ups like yours. There are definitely pro's and cons.

The coin is on the base and the photo is the display is a full size silver dollar. This is an inexpensive Mustcam scope. All you need is a taller stand.
