I'm not sure on this one.
The fields and luster make me want to say it's MS, but the hair above the ear and rims make me think AU.
An S mint Morgan should have finer detail in the hair.
    I'm conflicted.
    I'm going MS-61.

Oh, also there appears to be a couple of spots that look like it was in a coin roller at one point.
I could be imagining things though.

    Question too.....
Is the top of the "S" filled in ?

OK - ya got me wondering if they did say AU. Some of the hair and the ear itself is slightly darker - could be the pics and could be light wear. But if it isn't wear - then a 64.

The image of the coin with the certificate makes it appear to be cleaned on the obverse.

    we grade it xf

we dont really care about a coin if its been graded by some other TPF now if it came to us raw :D

Don't know which VAM it is.
I can't see any other diagnostics in your pic.
    Look at her closer.

I thought that what was shown already was an old photographed certification and that he had had PCGS grade it and we were guessing what grade PCGS gave it...and he didn't reveal the PCGS grade yet. Maybe I'm wrong.

You tease! Give us the grade already! ;) ..>Mike

p.s. by chance, was it the reed mark on the cheek that held it back?

p.p.s. If I'm reading this right, you are correct tcore.

    Sorry, I got distracted:)

The folks that had the coin in hand, graded it as follows.
    3 at MS-64
    2 at MS-63
    1 at MS-60 (PCGS)

From the image here, this is the tally.
    1 at MS-60
    2 at MS-61
    3 at MS-62
    4 at MS-63
    7 at MS-64
    1 at MS-65
    Average MS-63

    Grading coins is really easy.:rolling:
PCGS probably gave me a gift at 60.
The hit to the face is really distracting and seems to take folks attention away from whats just below it.
Something is not right there and I missed it as well.

I don't trust an image to grade by but, in this case the image actually helped me see something I did not notice in hand.

I agree with you Mark the old holder image makes the coin look cleaned if not polished. That's actually me taking an image of an old film image thru the holder. It's hard to make it lay flat to the lens. In truth it was probably cleaned at some point.

Thank you everyone for letting me tease you with this.
It taught me a great lesson and just wished to share.:)

Edit to add. Coinman1974 you nailed the grade.

I think you got the "bone" on this from PCGS. This coin is better than MS60. I think this shows the inconsistent grading that occurs , even at the " best" TPG'S.

Thats a first. I am horrible at grading. I keep practicing, guess it is working. Thanks, it was fun!
