i think this thread is a prime example of why the 70 point system stinks. with the old system everyone would be right in grade and it would just be the eye appeal to ponder over which would affect what we would pay for it.
That is kinda where I was going (at least for my own sake) with this whole Guess the Grade idea. I know it is nearly imposible to get an exact grade by a picture, but I think my pics are fairly good and the guesses are still all over the Uncirculated grades. Hey skane- I took those pics with a 2.2 megapixel Kodak digital camera, using a 10x and a 7x lens together with the flash off and macro setting on. I also take them in a dark room, with two flexible desk lamps with GE Reveal bulbs diffused through clear milk jug lenses. (Yeah, coin pics can be a little tricky!! )
ndgoflo, What do YOU think it grades? or, If I may ask, what did the seller you bought it from think it graded?
I bought this coin already slabbed and the seller represented the coin correctly. I have only recently dabbled in slabs, just to see what I have been missing, you know, and kind of see how my grading standards compare to the TPG's. (I don't have a coin shop around to be able to see slabs firsthand) Some of those from the CW forum may remember me talking about this, and I was about to start a Guess The Grade thread over there before we all got kicked out. I can pretty much agree with what is on the label, but I have a much better view than you guys. I will post another coin (one that I don't necesarily agree with) in another thread and see what you all think. I posted a Mercury dime on CW (R.I.P.) that I thought should have been body bagged, but it is in a PCGS MS64FB slab. Turns out alot of the members agreed with the grade. I'm just trying to get a grip on grading uncirculated coins.
I was going to hold out until midnight EST to reveal the grade, but seeing as how nobody has guessed in over 24 hours, I guess it wouldn't hurt. [/IMG] I agree with the grade, Bbut I don't think it is full steps. The bottom two steps blend together and there is a couple of nicks on them.
Sniper no sniping!!! Sniper no sniping!!! (Any of you who have small children may know what I am refering to! )
I don't agree with the FS designation and I still feel the coin is an MS64. Not the first time I have disagreed with a TPG, won't be the last.
