Yes, she will! On Friday, at the Specialty Show, she got Select for female dog which is an honor. There were like 37 dogs (and girl dogs) or so competing and what that means is one animal got Best of Breed, the best of the opposite sex to that animal got Best of Opposite (for Champion dogs), then there Best of Winners (for the non-champion classes), and then the judge was able to select one or more quality animals that needed recognition in being a really good specimen of the breed for Grand Champion Points, and he picked Hailey for being the best of the rest in the female dogs competing that day. Really cool honor, nothing at all like "being second". Sometimes it all comes down to either handling or what "typiness" the animal is showing. Some breeds have two or three distinct or not so distinct "types" and if a judge prefers one type over another as what their vision of the animal should be, then if your animal is not that type, it probably won't be chosen as the best that day. Each event is different. Here's two pics of my Hailey being shown by an associate handler (the regular handler was showing and winning with a golden retriever at the same time). But on to coins....I just got some new "daylight" light bulbs, and they are show truer colors so I took a couple more pics of this Franklin.
That seems similar to the way folks feel about toned vs. un-toned coins. It would be interesting if coins had competitions and got points like Championship dogs. (Hailey's magnificent...btw). The scrap marks across the bell lines must be on the slab and not the coins...Nice Coin! FBL = Full Bell Lines
... Which refers to the horizontal lines running across the most southern portion of the Liberty Bell on the reverse of the coin. "FBL" is a label designation used by third-party graders to indicate that the coin has been struck well enough to where these lines are fully visible. Figured I'd add this note just for clarification. Also, Kasia, I am truly surprised by the grade PCGS has assigned... And, actually, I'm surprised that I'm surprised! I've seen coins that look like they've been run over thousands of times sittin' on the turnpike for a decade or two certified "MS65" by these guys! As accurate as customers say PCGS's grades are, I don't believe they get everything quite right... But who am I to argue their skills. If you find the coin attractive, that's all that matters. -Brian PS: Nice dog! *ruff ruff*
Brian, that is why you are going to make the big bucks one day. I guess you have to look at 500,000 in this series to be positive in a grade.
Thanks! I think coins could be judged against each other the way the dog shows run. Have different "coin types" and break that into denominations, and then compete against each other based solely on how each coin type is true to the original mint state or something similar. And I'm beginning to think that the scrape marks are on the slab, too. I will have to investigate cleaning the slab and re-photoing the coin then. I don't know what to do to clean a slab without messing up the optics to the coin, though. And thanks to all the people who responded to this poll, as it was my first one, and my photos were not real good at the beginning. I respect all your remarks.
