This is a hard one but it is listed and can be found with the right reference. Most of you are missing something right in front of you. Think outside the box . ....
I can't wait to see the answer, but I'll bow out here. I have exhausted all references I have access to. I'm stumped on the variety. Good luck all!
Congrats Jay! Beat me by seconds hahha! I had 12 tabs open about nickel varietys and grading nickels, and I learned quite a bit of information about nickels. Very fun contest Paddy!
I will post photos and information later, it's dinner time here lol but must say ace and Jay were seconds apart with their PM's with the correct answer. Since it was a photo finish Jay will take 1st prize and ace will be sent a runner up for working his butt off to win the contest . Congrats to both!!!! Paddy54
Ooh that's rough...I had everything but forgot to mention the P because I'm mainly a Lincoln collector... Well, I suppose "close" doesn't count except in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Here are the images yes it's an 1942 P WDDR -003 Very Rare in Pf-66 That dot the die chip on Jefferson's neck is the PUP for this DDR see this thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/he...-p-pf-66-the-next-an-1945-d-ms-66-5fs.260643/
BTW a note about the winners one is a YN whom came in second and Jay is a variety dinosaur Maybe another contest coming up soon!
I think there's an error on the listing. http://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings/view/127 The gouge matches up, but the listing says type 1 planchet. Has to be a typo.
I appreciate the offer but u did win fair and square haha!!! I actually found paddy's old thread on it! But i had the error i was lowballing the grade so bad because of the steps not being there. The highest grade i guessed (until final guess) was PF63 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/he...-p-pf-66-the-next-an-1945-d-ms-66-5fs.260643/
Yes it's a type ll and would love to know the true value on this coin . I can't recall ever seeing one for sale. I know they are very rare
