Even if I didn't know my stuff, the point is, that I have gone to the effort to back up my opinion, by providing an illustrated example. In order for all of us to have the opportunity to learn, I ask the same of those who disagree and who merely remark, without stating the basis for their opinions.

well, you asked for an opinion, and that is what I stated and don't retract from it. I hope if you do send it to a TPG, you are awarded the grade you think it is worthy of. I don't gain or loose anything, right or wrong. I've never been 100% in my life. I'm not saying you got "taken" , but for me, I would have not paid XF money for it. Regards. Tom

As for the variety and my error, well I took a stab at 108 from memory, which too has failed me as of late. I should not have done that. Oh well. Thanks for the info.

and you point is mark? the op did not request that anyone backup the opinions with "illustrated" examples. It simply solicited opinions. But I'll give you a a good ole "pat" on you back anyway.

If you want to search through the Heritage archives to find it and view it and/or post it here with a zoom feature, feel free. I don't care to look it up again.

If what's already been posted doesn't cause you to conclude that Fine is too low of a grade for the coin in question, I'm not going to keep butting my head against the wall. You are free to have whatever opinion you care to.

I grade the ops coin a very high VF or XF-40 . As to calling the coin cleaned and with no eye appeal I'll have to disagree , a light dip maybe , but it is a very appealing coin , I love these older die states when the stars start stretching to the rim , this coin has definate eye appeal too me .

No problem there. You seem to have a real chip on your shoulder, because people don't do things the way you expect them to. Perhaps you should temper the way you approach a differing opinion. This is not the first time you have been rude and crude with someone who has a differing opinion. Tone it down!

We don't need to get in to personal attacks here; I see nothing wrong with what Mark said. If you want to persist in your opinion despite being shown evidence to the contrary, that's your perogative.

"Rude and crude", because I didn't care to look something up and post it at your request. And/or because I realized that you were set in your differing opinion (which I said you were free to have) and didn't want to put forth any more effort to change your mind. If that's rude and crude, I confess to being guilty.

And by the way, I don't have any expectations regarding the way people will do things. But I do have hopes that they will back up opinions with some substance. Sometimes that is an unrealistic hope, however, and that's their right.

Thats not the case Physics, but neither will I submit to his ridicule because of a differing opinion or because some don't do things the way MARK does. I was congenial and friendly, and did not in any way, create an atmosphere of rudeness. I stated what I believe, to his disagreement. Which he is entitled to as well. it's the tone of a condescending attitude. I am always friendly, congenial and respectful of others opinions.
We can disagree to disagree without tagging someone out for not doing things the way that works for him. I'm not perfect, but I am friendly and respectful. His tone is of disagreeing definitely needs some work.

yes mark it is their right, Thanks for admitting that. However your reply didn't leave any question that was unacceptable to you. Ok this is now over . Lets call this quits. Enough said.

First to the original question. I think XF40 less wear than the other which I had at VF35. Both are nice coins and will grade at XF at a tpg. At least in my opinion.

As for the overton number it is O-112. I had it right and then went to verify on coinzip and guess what I saw? Just so you know I use coinzip as a reference so if you post it there I will see it. After I have the overton number I almost always goto coinzip and start comparing coins. :) I even do that with my busties. I don't post a lot over there, but I check it on occasion.

no mark not because of you willingness to do that, it's the way you composed your your reply of that request. Seriously, re-read it. would it not have been better to simply initially posted the link, with that illustrated example? or politely suggest I might want to look at the archives on the heritage site for comparisons instead of presenting a condescending attitude for those that didn't do what you did. Seriously mark, I'm not attacking you for your opinion. I do acknowledge that.

Ding ding ding, you are correct mark_h. I thought this was a mighty nice snag, being an R4+ and all :)

Yeah, I use coinzip quite a bit also. Next time I will wait a bit for everyone to guess before posting there, since it is a good reference.

if this isn't a condescending tone, what is? and mark says he doesen't expect others to do as he does? hmmmmm

fooled me. Let me ask you this, what is the sense of asking for member opinions if all they are going to do is refer to and agree with illustrated examples ? hell , get the coloring book and make certain you stay within the lines.

The worst part is I thought I checked coinzip earlier this week and saw this coin, but it must have been one of your others.

To me, asking something is very different from expecting it.

As far as I'm concerned, it's fine to merely agree or disagree with posted examples. People can learn more from one another by discussing, comparing and contrasting those (and providing other) examples, however.

I attempt to be informative and polite in my posting. And that is regardless of the subject or any disagreements, which in some cases, are inevitable. I am sorry if you feel I was rude.
