    This I don't understand at all. What happened to PCGS's guidelines that an MS coin has "No wear" and an AU58+ "Full detail with the barest trace of friction on the highest points." I do not doubt that, as RLM said, the photos exagerate the friction, but it's still certainly a trace!

    On that MS63 1909 I see what you are pointing out, but even on that coin what I'm seeing still does not appear to be friction, but rather toning since it's not just limited to the high points(as is the coin in this one). Even though many of the high points are dark, they still don't look scuffed/worn/frictioned as the coin here does. I guess on a questionable AU/MS you really must see it in hand to be able to determine the difference.
