I don't get it. The coins has 1 little nick on it and great luster, but you guys think this is a 64.5. (I know you can see more nicks than the one, but remember, they only use their naked eyes - not a 10X loupe.) If you want to argue it only deserves a 66 because of the strike, I could hear that. Although, I am becoming more and more convinced that their definition of full strike is all of the planchet flaws are pressed out (typically at the shoulder and the O in "ONE") rather than every detail is there. BTW, I guess majorbugtime has not had the guts to show up again.
Luster was nice, but the first picture made it look like almost no details in the hair and around the ear. The new picture I think shows more details. Boy I sucked at the last two.
I was only off by one. It's a beauty of a coin though. Tough for me to jump to 67 without seeing it in hand.
Well, right there is the primary difference in our grading I guess. I for one do not believe that all those chatter marks on the face and shoulder are left over planchet marks - not for one second do I believe that. I believe they are contact marks and nothing but contact marks. I firmly believe that the TPGs have siezed upon the public's belief/acceptance in these explanations for those marks and that that and that alone is why these coins are being graded this high.
