    You guys are way to hard on this coin. This is a very nice 65 FS if not a 66 FS. Gorgeous Coin!

    You and Mike both pointed to an area of weakness between the 3rd & 4th steps under the second pillar. While I see what you are talking about in the photo, that bridge is not apparent under a loupe. I would give the coin a full step designation. However, knowing how stingy NGC is with the designation, I think it would be 50/50.

    so given only the pics, you would agree with my (and rlm's) assessment of not quite FS?

    Not so fast. Since I stated it was PCGS and it is borderline in the photo, I would still have guessed full steps. If it were NGC, you would have to vote no to the FS designation based on the photo.

    point taken. I do pride myself on being very strict in my grading. I really like the Jefferson series as I think you may have noticed over time.

    Of course I made up for missing the FS by overgrading the coin itself. :)
