We got some new participants days later. I probably should have allowed more time for more people to vote. Next time. By the way, this is SEGS Bay Bridge #1. There will be many more Guess The Grades to follow regarding the Bay Bridge Commemorative coin as long as there's interest.
Thank you. It's harder to find them this circulated. I got it for a great price actually, cost me about $60 total.
Very nice image jaceravone! I'm going to post the answer later today. I'm still seeing some more poll results and would like to see how this finishes up.
I personally believe the majority of people who took this poll are correct in their assessment of the Sheldon Scale Grade of my Bay Bridge specimen. I too would have voted for VG-10 (4 votes total & the majority) however this was SEGS opinion: Two who participated in the poll though believe SEGS was accurate giving this a VF-20. Strangely no one thought this coin was a Fine-15 or VF-25. Coming in tied for second three people each also thought this was a Fine-12 and VG-8 specimen. Basically it's difficult to find very circulated examples of these low mintage commemorative coins so knowing what wear to look for is a matter of talent and effort. It's not like there's a Photograde for commemorative coins since 90%+ of them are either AU or UNC. Considering SEGS gave this a VF-20 I could argue I got a great deal for the money for those of us who are in the market for coins that SEGS encapsulates.
I would have voted 8 as far as I would grade it but I can see it being a 10. The poll actually ask what SEGS graded it. 10 out of 15 votes missed it by 3 or more points. Interesting. As said, there are few standards for grading these at this level.
You're right Larry, I voted with my gut feeling (what I feel the grade should be) rather than what I felt the TPG'er would go with. Still, I hold out hope that we'll (TPG'er) agree........
