The result! MS 64! Not even a plus! The dealer had a tray full of MS 63 and MS 64 Morgan and Peace dollars. This one stood out right away! I think it is an MS 66 or a good MS 65, it looks way better than any of my 64's. It's in a late 1990's NGC slab. I paid $55 for it.
I was thinking about doing that. Just gotta hope it gets better than a 64 lol, or else my money is wasted. If it gets a 65+ or a 66 than I would be extremely happy getting that grade on a coin I paid $55 for. There's always a chance I could score with a 66+ or 67, or I could scratch the coin when cracking it out! It's pretty much a huge gamble.
No need. CAC, maybe - I don't see a chance it doesn't get a Gold bean. Any halfway-intelligent grader of the series will see what you've got there.
That is definitely an undergraded Peace. I think CAC would oblige you with a gold sticker if you didn't want to crack it out.
Yeah, under graded for sure. This is what you should get out of it - maybe a + as well, hard to grade from pictures - but yours is nice. You will see this one has a stronger / deeper strike, but there's also a tiny bit of chaff here and there - just not in the primary viewing areas. GOOD LUCK! It will definitely bump - for $55 you got a bargain! Big hint- that's a "fatty" old holder with a 6 digit serializing number (invoice number). There's a good chance that one bumps unless the holder's hiding something.
I'm going to go the other way and say that NGC got it right and we can't see it from the images that have been posted.
